History of Masjid Omar Bin Khatab
Masjid Omar Bin Khatab was established in 1992 by the efforts of a diverse group of brothers in the downtown Toronto area.
Living in a troubled neighbourhood with a large muslim population, the muslim community was in need of a masjid.
Location and congregational attendees changed in the past 10 years, currently in it’s third location at 234 Parliament Street. Rent is $4000 excluding utilities.
From 25-30 attendees in 1992, the masjid currently has close to 1000 attendees for Juma’a prayers, alhamdulilah.
The efforts of the brothers to receive recognition and non charitable status as an organization was approved by Government of Canada
